Norma Young

Norma M. Young, age 90 of Lake Clear, NY died Wednesday May 25, 2016 in Plattsburgh, NY.

Born in Saranac Lake, New York on July 15, 1925, she was the daughter of George A. Donaldson Sr. and Marion I. (Starks) Donaldson.

She graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1943. She worked at George L. Starks & Co where she met her Husband of 58 years Kenneth K. Young. They were married on June 25th, 1944. After that she was employed by Adirondack National Bank and Marine Midland Bank. From 1959 until her death she was employed by Geo. A. Donaldson & Sons, Inc. Mrs. Young enjoyed travelling museums and lighthouses.

Mrs. Young was a member of the Lake Clear Presbyterian Church of which she was Treasurer. The Lake Clear Presbyterian Church is now the Adirondack Presbyterian Church and she first became and Elder in the church in 1972. With her husband she was and advisor for the Westminster Fellowship Youth Group in the church in the 1950’s. They also taught Senior Sunday School. Later on she taught primary Sunday School.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Saranac Lake. She was also a member of the Ladies of the Oriental Shrine. Mrs. Young was also a member of the Northland Rock and Mineral Club in Lake Placid at one time.

She is survived by her one son William Young of Lake Clear, NY.

Calling hours will be at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, Inc. in Saranac Lake on Monday May 30, 2016 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday May 31, 2016 at the Adirondack Presbyterian Church in Lake Clear with the Rev. Richard L. Speer officiating followed by a graveside service in the Harrietstown Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
