Leonard F. Young, Jr. 68, passed away at his home of 23 Pine Street on December 4, 2012. He was surrounded by his family.
Len was born October 17, 1944 in Long Island, New York, he was the son of the late Leonard F. Young and Mercille (Tebo) Forkey. After his father’s passing, his mother married William (Carlin)Forkey. Who are all deceased.
Len grew up in Long Island, New York and moved to Tupper Lake in 1957. He attended the local schools in Tupper Lake. Len worked at Drapers and later went to work for Sunmount DDSO in the Maintenance Department until his retirement in 2004. Len was also a dedicated member of the Tupper Lake Fire Department for 25 years.
On July 11, 1964, he married Pamela (Penny) Beaudette. They lived in Tupper Lake throughout their marriage.
Len has one sister, Joanne Dechene and her husband Robbie who reside in Tupper Lake.
Surviving besides his wife of 48 years are two children, Len and his wife Christine of Tupper Lake, Tina Young Vaillancourt and her husband Tom of Glens Falls, New York. He was predeceased by his daughter, Debbie in 2004. Grandchildren include Corey, Megan, Jordan (Tino)Young, William and Vanessa Vaillancourt, Chad St. Louis, and Derek, Dustin and Brittney Miller and Great-Grandchildren Taylor and Blake Young and Tyler Vaillancourt.
There was no calling hours, the burial service was held December 6, 2012. Suggested donations in his memory may be made to the Tri-Lakes Human Society, Tupper Lake Fire Department or High Peaks Hospice.
Len loved his woodworking , the NY Giants, and the NY Yankees. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his grandchildren, and great- grandchildren, and of course his beloved cats who were his loyal companions. Arrangements are with the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral home.
