Shirley Teresa Woodruff, age 80, of Bloomingdale, died Saturday, May 06, 2017 at Elderwood of Uihlein in Lake Placid.
Born in Saranac Lake, New York on July 12, 1936, she was the daughter of Timothy and Mildred (O'Niell) Howard. Shirley, married Gerald Woodruff on July 19, 1958 in St. Paul's Church, Bloomingdale. He predeceased her on June 25, 2007.
Shirley was a life time resident of the area and had worked as an LPN at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid. She had served as a volunteer for Girl Scouts of America for nearly 48 years as a Girl Scout Leader, Service Unit Chairperson; helped with release time children's program and earned Thanks Badge I and II in Girls Scouts. She enjoyed reading; jig-saw puzzle, latch hook projects; search a word puzzles; and photographs.
She is survived by eight children Kevin Woodruff and his wife Kimberly of Vermontville, Victor Woodruff of Bloomingdale, Paul Woodruff of Saranac Lake, Gary Woodruff and his wife Laurie of Bloomingdale, Timothy Woodruff and Rebecca Canfield of Bloomingdale, Kim Hunt and husband Mark of Minot, ND, Shelly Heil of Saranac Lake and Norma Woodruff of Saranac Lake, three sisters Joan Rustad of San Diego, CA, Norma Howard of Bloomingdale and Nancy Heath of Bloomingdale, 13 Grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her twin children Emma Jean & Elmer Woodruff, and two brothers R. Patrick and Brian Howard.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Monday, May 15, 2017 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am on Tuesday May 16, 2017 at St. Paul's Church, with Rev. Paul Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery in Bloomingdale.
