Arnold L. Woodruff, age 81, of 45 Duprey Street, Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, March 06, 2013.
Born in Saranac Lake, New York on May 13, 1931, he was the son of William and Louise (Giroux) Woodruff. Arnold married Mary Anna Blinn on December 1, 1951 at St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake.
Mr. Woodruff had owned and operated his own towing company, Woodruff Towing for many years until his retirement in 2005. Prior to that he had worked as a carpenter for various area businesses including Branch and Callaghan in Saranac Lake. He also built many of the state platform camps on Lower Saranac Lake and Miller Pond with his brother Clayton. Mr. Woodruff was an avid rabbit hunter and enjoyed snowmobiling.
He is survived by his wife Mary Anna Woodruff of Saranac Lake, four sons, Richard Woodruff and his wife Laurie of Ray Brook, Brian Woodruff and his companion Charlotte Manning of Lake Placid, Scott Woodruff and his companion Kathy Moody Kathy of Greenwich, Matthew Woodruff and his wife Thea of Bloomingdale, two daughters Marilyn Spencer and her husband David of South Royalton, VT and Linda Hutti and her life companion Curtis Smith of Peru, 13 Grandchildren, 3 Great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and several brothers and sisters.
Calling hours are set to take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 from 2PM - 4PM. A memorial service will immediately follow at 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
