Mary M. Wirsing, age 81, of Plattsburgh, NY died Saturday February 27, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born in Albany, NY on May 28, 1939 the daughter of Albert and Helen (Sedlak) Mertz, Sr. She married John E. Wirsing in 1980.
Mary was a lifelong resident of the Tri-Lakes area, living and working in Saranac Lake, Lake Clear and the Plattsburgh area. She loved traveling with Jack, she volunteered for the Board of Elections in Lake Clear and she did countless hours of volunteer work at St. John’s in the Wilderness Catholic Church in Lake Clear.
Mary is survived by her loving husband John “Jack” Wirsing of Plattsburgh, NY, her three sisters: Helen Mertz of Troy, NY, Margaret Helmes of Wynantskill, NY and Virginia Mertz of Plattsburgh, NY. Her five brothers: John Mertz, Sr of Malone, NY, Thomas Mertz of East Greenbush, NY, Michael Mertz of Renssealer, NY, Robert Mertz of Plattsburgh, NY and James Mertz of Renssealer, NY. Mary is also survived by many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews as well as several brother and sister in laws.
Mary was preceded in death by her father and mother and her brothers: Albert Mertz, Jr and Richard Mertz.
Funeral Arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be scheduled for the Spring and burial will take place in St. John’s in the Wilderness Catholic Cemetery in Lake Clear.
