Sad news from the Bloomingdale Willette family once more. We lost a husband, a brother, an uncle, and a friend on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.
Born in Saranac Lake, on Sunday March 6, 1955, ninth child of Addie M. (LaFountain) and Paul A. Willette, Loweyl Thomas Willette, of the Bloomingdale Willette's, passed peacefully with most beloved Carol by his side early Wednesday morning, September 27, 2023.
Poochie, a lifelong resident of Bloomingdale and proud graduate of Saranac Lake High School who played on the Redskin football and hockey teams, also graduated from North Country Community College with AAS degree in Criminal Justice.
He was most proud to serve New York State Department of Correctional Services as a Correctional Officer and retired as Sergeant. Poochie was married to his sweetheart Carol J. Bernabo on Saturday July 26, 1980 in St. Paul’s Church in Bloomingdale where Loweyl Thomas was baptized on Sunday, April 17, 1955.
Poochie was a talented hockey coach to many local young kids. Poochie was a member of the Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Department, the Bloomingdale Boosters with brother Darryl. He also loved his Friday night golf league with partner Andy Fawcett. And Poochie fully enjoyed helping people especially snow plowing out friends and family members. He loved bantering with his brothers, especially Dayl who passed on the same day and month one year ago. “Dayl has been building a heavenly ice rink” and it is finally finished, so Dayl is guiding Poochie on his next life’s journey!
Predeceased by his parents and survived by his darling beloved wife Carol, Poochie was a loving surrogate to his youngest sibling Russyl. He was dearly loved by his 12 siblings: Darryl, Cheryl, Karyl, Gerryl (deceased), Micheyl (deceased) Randyl, Kristyl, Dayl (deceased), Erryl, Kendyl (deceased), Royl (deceased), and Russyl.
He is an uncle to many nieces and nephews, and feline’s Simone’s & Nellie’s best Daddy. Loweyl T. will be sorely missed by the rest of his friends, family, kittys, and his dialysis family of many years at Adirondack Health! We will always remember his charming smile, his funny chuckle, his teasing bantering, and his kind eyes. Fare-thee-well, Poochie!
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will take place at St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Bloomingdale at the convenience of the family.
Friends wishing to remember Loweyl (Poochie)Willette may make memorial donations to the Renal Dialysis Unit at the Adirondack Medical Center in care of the funeral home.
