Maria T. White, age 96, of Saranac Lake, died Tuesday, June 05, 2018 at AMC-mercy Living Center in Tupper Lake where she had been a resident since 2013.
Born in Hinchinbrook, Quebec, Canada on October 12, 1921, she was the daughter of Richard and Roselba (Doust) Bisson. Maria married Bruce White on August 17, 1963. He predeceased her May 11, 1983.
Maria worked as a desk clerk at the St. Regis and Alpine Hotels in Saranac Lake. She had also been a waitress at the Miss Saranac Diner and a cashier at the Grand Union in Elizabethtown until she retired in 1964. Maria was a member of the Ladies of the Moose and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed riding in the car, reading and fishing. In 1962 she published the song "Your Jealous Heart" which was recorded by Tony Bennett and Connie Francis.
She is survived by one son Earnest (Helen) of Mirabelle, GA, and one daughter-in-law Robert (Lydia) of Hinesville, GA four great grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. She is also survived by many close friends including Clemos Tanzini and family. She was preceded in death by two sons Robert and Joseph Clark.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A graveside service will take place at St. Bernard’s Cemetery on Monday June 11, 2018 at 10:00am with Pastor Eric Olsen officiating.
