Barbara E. Wenner, 83 of Elderwood, Lake Placid, NY died on March 12, 2018.
Born in Saranac Lake, on April 21, 1934, she was the daughter of Leroy and Bertha (Pratt) Stringham.
A lifelong resident of the area, Barbara worked at the General Hospital of Saranac Lake and the Adirondack Medical Center for 29 years and retired in May 2000. She was a member of High Peaks Church and Women of the Moose.
She married Gilbert E. Pelkey on June 17, 1951 in Saranac Lake, he predeceased her in 1980. She married William E. Wenner on January 1, 1981 in Saranac Lake, he predeceased her in Oct. 2006.
Barbara is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Pelkey) Wilkins and her husband Mark of Greene, N.Y. and Cynthia (Pelkey) Bushman of Brushton N.Y., four sons, David Pelkey and his wife Nanette of Crown Point, N.Y., Keith Pelkey and his wife Nancy of Cato, N.Y., Kevin Pelkey and Suzie McClure of Vermontville, N.Y. and Joseph Wenner and his wife Laurie of Brushton N.Y. Also surviving are two step daughters, Deanna Wenner of White River Jct, VT and Linda Thomas of Dubois, PA and a step son William Wenner Jr. of DuBois, PA, two sisters, Judith Stringham of Lititz, PA and Beverly Lincoln of Lake Placid, FL. Also surviving are twenty grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren, one great-great grandson, several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased in death by her daughter Roberta (Pelkey) Shaw and her son Chris Pelkey, a brother David Stringham, two granddaughters Elizabeth Wilkins and Jennifer Muncil, a great grandson Corey Muncil, a stepson Frank Wenner.
Her greatest joy in life was to be involved in the lives of her family. She was an avid amateur photographer who insisted on taking photos on every occasion. Barbara also enjoyed music, reading and researching her genealogy.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. Per the wishes of Barbara there will be a private family graveside service at a later date.
