Norman Warner

Norman Warner, age 77, of Old Ray Brook Rd., Ray Brook, died Wednesday, January 01, 2014 surrounded by his family.

Born in Malone, New York on September, 14, 1936, he was the son of Roy and Alice (Hoyt) Warner. Norman married Sandra Algea in May 1957, in Miami Florida.

Norman was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. serving during the Korean War, two tours in the Vietnam conflict and retiring as a Gunnery Sergeant in 1974. He and Sandra moved to Phoenix Arizona when he retired from the military and there he worked as a patrolman for the Phoenix Police Dept. until 1979. He then moved his family back to Saranac Lake to enjoy a full retirement. Norman was an avid outdoorsman; He loved boating, hunting and fishing especially when accompanied by his sons and grandsons.

He is survived by, two daughters Mia Irvine and her husband Bruce of Bloomingdale and Laurie Woodruff and her husband Rick of Ray Brook, two sons Norman Jr. and Wayne of Arizona. Three sisters, Iona Tilley, Phyllis Ingo and Joyce Reome and two brothers, Ivan and Douglas and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased 4 sisters, Pearl LaBounty, Peggy Agostini, Muriel Walker and Betty Rushlaw and one brother, Dale Warner.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will take place at the convenience of the family.
