Alice Wallace

September 11, 1912 — June 23, 2011

Alice Munn Wallace passed peacefully into God’s hands, Thursday June 23rd at 4:40 AM, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Saranac Lake, New York on September 11, 1912, she was the daughter of Matthew and Agnes (Delisle) Munn. She married William “Bill” Wallace on September 22, 1932 in St. Bernard's Church. He predeceased her June 4, 1973.

Over her lifetime she enjoyed canoeing, cross country skiing, boating fishing, g and walking ion the woods. But mostly she loved her family. She was a driving force behind her husband Bill’s initiation of Santa’s Jukebox in 1945), an organization that distributed toys to children at Christmas time for over 50 years.

She is survived by three daughters Alice "Fuzzy" Scollin and her husband Raymond of Saranac Lake, NY, Barbara Stunzi and her husband Albert of Saranac Lake, NY, and Sharon Fregoe and her husband David of Norwood, NY, one son William Wallace and his wife Betty of Saranac Lake, and one brother Robert Munn of Plattsburgh, NY, 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, two brothers James and John Munn, and two sisters Ruth Munn and Helen Meldrin.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Sunday, June 26, 2011 from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00 PM on Monday June 27, 2011 at St. Bernard's Church, with Rev. Mark Reilly officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
