Dennis D. Wales, age 55, of 77 Edward Street, Saranac Lake, NY died Wednesday, October 01, 2008 at his home following a short illness.

Born in Battle Creek, Michigan on December 30, 1952, he was the son of Glen and Beverly (Godde) Wales. Dennis married Valerie Burl on September 17, 1989 in Saranac Lake, NY.

Dennis had been employed at FCI Ray Brook as a Plant Foreman for 22 years until his retirement in 2005. He was a member of the Sons of American Legion Post 447, Saranac Lake Fish and Game Club, and was a past member of the Saranac Lake Elks BPOE 5108. Dennis was an avid pool player and was in the Thursday Night pool league on the Romano's Pool Team. He loved golfing, hunting, fishing, camping and riding his Harley. Dennis was always willing to help his family no matter what, from snow blowing, mowing lawns to cleaning carpets. He enjoyed visiting the casino. He loved his four dogs, especially Sammy.

He is survived by his wife Valerie of Saranac Lake, NY, five children Leah Thomas and her husband Randy of Battle Creek, MI, Shawn Wales and his wife Ashley of Saranac Lake, NY, Kristina Wales of Watertown, NY; Jessica Paye and her partner Michael Muncil of Saranac Lake, NY, Jennifer Paye of Saranac Lake, NY, 8 grandchildren Blake, Noah, Stephen, Earl, Alyssa, Harmonnie, Peyton and especially Jacob Paye who was his motorcycle and pool partner. He is also survived by two sisters Glenda Stratman and her husband Richard of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Ruth Lindsey of Michigan, and one Aunt Linda Godde of Michigan. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and one granddaughter.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake on Sunday, October 5, 2008 from 2PM - 4PM. A Sons of the American Legion Service will take place at 4:00 PM immediately followed by a prayer service with Rev. Paul Kelly officiating.
