William Wainwright

July 4, 1959 — April 17, 2022

William George “Bill Murray” Wainwright, 62, of Lake Placid, joined the Angels on Easter Sunday. Bill had the love of his life, Carmen, and adopted “daughter,” Jessica by his side, in the comfort of his home when he went to sea. Bill was born on July 4th, 1959 to Albert Eugene Wainwright and Winifred (Keur) Wainwright, in Muskegon, Michigan. Bill had an insatiable thirst for the sea and began his journey building Yachts in his very own shipyard in his late 20’s – the pirate ship he built in Fort Lauderdale, FL is still afloat to this day. He made his way around the United States finally putting roots down and retiring in Saranac Lake about 15 years ago. Bill met the love of his life, Carmen (Burns), and the two wed on October 7th, 2016. The love they shared was the type of love most could only dream of.

His spirt and genuine kindness brought anyone he encountered peace. He loved to tell stories of his life and they were sure to make you laugh. He was wise beyond his years and always gave the best advice for any situation. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Bill is survived by his wife, and love of his life, Carmen Wainwright (Burns); his daughter, Stephanie Wainwright (Terry); sisters Peggy, Carol, Doris and Arlene; step-children Michael Burns (Brittnie), Emeraldann Bearden (Steve); and Skyler Rowe (Kailani); grandchildren Dylan Wainwright, Kadin and Autumn Bearden, and Hunter Gillson; several adopted grandchildren and great grandchild. He was predeceased by his parents, and siblings Nancy and Jim.

Calling hours for Bill will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no funeral service or burial at his request. His body will be cremated and his ashes spread in Michigan Lake at the discretion of his family.
