Solange Verheydt

Solange Marie Verheydt, age 86, of 82 Woodruff Street, Saranac Lake, died Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the Mercy Living Center in Tupper Lake where she had been a resident since 2012.

Born in Saranac Lake, New York on April 09, 1928, she was the daughter of Donat and Elgantine (Lalande) Gendron. Solange, married John Verheydt on January 29, 1965 in Saranac Lake. John predeceased her on May 28, 2010.

Solange was a graduate of Saranac Lake High School and had owned and operated Solange’s Knitting Lounge in the Hotel Saranac for several years. Solange and her husband John also owned and operated the Warehouse Coin Wash and Carwash in Saranac Lake and she had worked in the family business at Gendron Lumber for many years.

She is survived by one granddaughter Heather Rich of Saranac Lake, one grandson Jeremy Rich and his wife Leslie of Myrtle Beach, SC, two great grandsons Ethan & Jacob Rich, one great granddaughter Cailyn Rich of Myrtle Beach, SC, one son-in-law Bill Rich of Saranac Lake, one cousin Phil Lalande, and one nephew Bobby Gendron. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, husband John Verheydt, daughter Heidi Rich, sister-in-law Ruth and brother Rene Gendron.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will take place in St. Bernard's Cemetery at a later date to be announced.
