Judy Vaughn, age 70, of 232 Indian Rock Trail, Saranac Lake, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Born in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania on February 09, 1939, she was the daughter of Daniel and Rhoda (Knepper) Varner. She married Loren Vaughn on July 25, 1975 in Saranac Lake, New York.
Judy had been employed as a teachers Aid at the Saranac Lake Petrova Elementary School for many years until her retirement in 2007. Prior to that she had been employed as an LPN for several years in Chambersburg, PA. Judy loved to travel with her husband Loren, and together they had traveled extensively including Alaska, Nova Scotia, the west coast and all the providences of Canada.
She is survived by her husband Loren, one son Danny Hardsock and his wife Rebecca of Revloc, PA, two daughters Tracey Howe and her husband John of Chambersburg, PA, and Amanda Buck and her husband Benjamin of Saranac Lake, NY, four step-children Adrian Vaughn, Dale Vaughn, Monte Vaughn, and Jean Vaughn all of Saranac Lake, NY; five grandchildren Travis Buck, Jeremy Rogers, Loren Kilburne, Danielle Hardsock and Melanie Cook, one great-grandson Parker Kilburne; one brother Tim Varner of Chambersburg, PA, and numerous step grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, one step-son Paul Vaughn, and two sisters.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Thursday, March 19, 2009 from 6PM - 8PM and on Friday, March 20, 2009 from 2PM -4PM and 6PM - 8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday March 21, 2009 at St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake, with Msgr. C.J. McAvoy officiating. Burial will follow at Harrietstown Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
