Eileen Varden

Eileen Charlotte Varden 80,passed away on Friday, September 2 at Mercy Living Center, surrounded by her family.

Born August 17,1931 in Brooklyn, New York to the late John and Florence (Burke) Cassidy, she grew up in Long Lake, N.Y. graduating from Long Lake High School in 1949.

She married, Gerald Varden on November 22,1950 in Tupper Lake, N.Y. She worked various places in Tupper Lake before moving to Big Moose in 1981, where she and her husband worked as care-takers for the Higby Club until returning to Tupper Lake in 1992. Eileen then worked for Mercy Healthcare until 1998.

Eileen enjoyed knitting, sewing, baking and taking care of her grandchildren and spending time with her family.

Eileen is predeceased her mother and father, and brother Charles. Eileen is also predeceased by her husband, Gerald in 1999 her daughter Cindy 1986, and a granddaughter Carrissa Barber.

She is survived by her stepmother Aledia Cassidy of Star Lake N.Y. and a sister Joan Maxell of Harrisville, N.Y.

two sons Mark and his wife Darcy(Lanthier), Norman and his wife Linda (Kasper) of Tupper Lake, N.Y., three daughters Lisa and her husband Tim Peck of Oneida, N.Y., Carla Desmarais and her husband Keith of Tupper Lake, N.Y. and Sandra Santella of Savannah, Georgia. Eileen is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday September 7 from 4pm-7pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. The funeral will be held on Thursday, September 8 at 11 a.m. also at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home with Interment to follow at the Holy Name Cemetery.
