Vincent VanYserloo, age 84, of Saranac Lake died Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at the AMC-Uihlein in Lake Placid.
Born in Brighton, New York on July 27, 1926, he was the son of John and Catherine (Blanchard) VanYserloo.
Mr. VanYserloo had been a life long resident of the area and had been employed as a bartender at the Veterans Memorial Association for 22 years. He was later employed as a Taxi Cab Driver for Lavine Taxi Service in Saranac Lake for over 25 years until his retirement. Mr. VanYserloo is a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1944 to 1946 during World War II. He was also a drummer and had played in a Jazz band at various locations including the Wawbeek and the Point. He also was an avid H-O Model train enthusiast and was a member of the VFW in Saranac Lake.
He is survived by one son Vincent R. and his wife Karin of Saranac Lake, two daughters Kathleen M. VanYserloo and Beryl C. Mader and her husband David all of Saranac Lake, one brother Ronald of Washington, two sisters Millicent Rademacher of Rochester, NY and Connie VanYserloo of California, seven grandchildren Erik, Sarah, Carolyn, Anna, Jesse, Harmony and Jack and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and one son Daniel Allen VanYserloo.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Friday, October 29, 2010 from 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM. A veteran’s service will take place at the funeral home on Friday at 1:30 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home with Rev. Patrick O'Reilly officiating.
