Hubert M. Tyler, III, age 53, of 8330 State Route 3, Vermontville, died Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born in Saranac Lake, New York on April 22, 1956, he was the son of Hubert "Sonny" and Joan (Ayers) Tyler, Jr. He married Tina Yousey on September 8, 1979 in Vermontville, New York by his father Honorable Judge Hubert M. Tyler, Jr.
Hugh was a life long resident of the area and had been employed for over 30 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Town of Franklin until his retirement in 2006. He also had served as the Highway Superintendent for the Town of Franklin for a period of time. Hugh was very active in youth organizations and sports. He was a big supporter of the Saranac Lake Red Strom athletic program, especially football. He also was instrumental in establishing the Curtis Tyler Baseball Field in Vermontville. Following his retirement he spent much of his time helping people by repairing their computers. This was one of his favorite things to do in recent years. Hugh loved fishing with his family, playing golf, bowling and vacations at the ocean. He especially loved spending time with his dogs. He was also a fanatic New York Giants fan and particularly fond of the Saranac Lake Red Storm and St. Lawrence football teams.
He is survived by his mother Joan Tyler of Vermontville, NY, his wife Tina Tyler of Vermontville, NY, two sons Hubert “Ty” Tyler, IV of Vermontville, NY and Joshua Tyler of Saranac Lake, NY, one sister Terrie Perkins and her husband Philip of Saranac Lake, NY, several aunt, uncles, nieces and nephews. Following the untimely death of his brother Curtis, he and his wife Tina accepted Curt’s son Kevin into their home. He was preceded in death by his father and his brother Curtis Tyler.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Saturday, April 17, 2010 from 2PM -4PM and 6PM - 7:00PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at 7:00 PM Saturday evening at the funeral home with Rev. Daniel Shumway officiating. Burial will take place in Brookside Cemetery at a later date.
