Thelma L. (Landry) Pooler, 64, peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 13th at Westchester Medical Center after her battle with Diabetes, Liver and Kidney Disease.
Thelma was born on March 13th, 1960 to Doris (Martell) and Lloyd Landry in Saranac Lake, NY. Thelma had several memories she shared about growing up on Franklin Ave and the fun she, her siblings and their friends would have. Thelma was a graduate of Saranac Lake High School in 1978.
In the early 80’s, Thelma married Harold (Pete) Rock. Together they had their son Nicholas (Nick) and resided in Wilmington before moving back to Saranac Lake. While residing in the Saranac Lake area Thelma was the proud Dog-Mom to several dogs. She also enjoyed dog training and dog shows.
Thelma worked for Adirondack Medical Center, primarily as a Central Sterile Processing Technician. Thelma’s career continued on when she moved to Glens Falls working for both Saratoga Surgical Center and Glens Falls Hospital. Her most recent role was as the Central Sterile Processing Technician for the ENT Clinic at Glens Falls Hospital.
In her life journey she met Dauchy (Jay) Pooler. Thelma and Jay wed on September 16th, 2006. Thelma had many adventures with Jay. Thelma enjoyed kayaking and skiing. Camping was one of her favorite activities. She also enjoyed watching the Adirondack Thunder Hockey games. Together Thelma and Jay have had several dogs, however, Scottish Terriers, her favorite breed was dominate in her home. Her babies Ella, Gunnar, Leia, and Loki are left to help comfort her family.
Thelma was predeceased by her parents, Doris and Lloyd, Brother Theodore (Ted), and Brother-in-Law Rick Woods.
Thelma is survived by her husband Dauchy (Jay) of Queensbury. One son Nicholas (Amee) Rock of Vermontville. Thelma was the Bonus-Mom to Cindy (Edward) Brunelle of Granville, NY; Jason (Terry) Pooler of Seattle, WA and Josh (Michelle) Pooler of South Glens Falls. Thelma is also survived by her siblings Karen Landry-Woods of Spring Hill, FL; Marcia Pollard of Galveston, TX; Nadeine (DeeDee) Landry-Jones of Texas City, TX; William (Bill) Landry of Tupper Lake, NY; Joseph (Joe) Landry of Mesa, AZ; and James (Jim) Landry of Texas City, TX. Thelma was the loving grandmother of Owen and Grace, both of Vermontville, and a Bonus-Grandmother to Hunter of Granville. Thelma is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Thelma was loved and cherished by many friends and coworkers.
Thelma’s infectious laugh, zest for life, and compassion for those around her will be deeply missed in her personal and professional lives. There is a void in our world without her in it.
The family thanks West Glens Falls Emergency Services, her care team at Glens Falls Hospital, Fort Ann Ambulance Service, her care team Westchester Medical Center, and everyone who helped, prayed for and cheered on Thelma through her journey.
Calling hours will take places on Sunday, April 21st from 2-4 PM at Fortune Keough Funeral Home. A mass of the Christian burial will take place at St. Bernard’s Church, Saranac Lake on Monday, April 22nd at 11:00 AM. A celebration of life will take place after mass at the Moose Club in Saranac Lake. Burial will take place at a later date in a private ceremony her with family.
