Virginia Lucille Switzer, age 92, of Loon Lake, died Friday, April 3, 2020 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born in Westbury, Wayne County, New York on March 11, 1928, she was the daughter of Jay and Minnie (Lapp) Farrow. Virginia married John “Jack” Switzer on Tuesday, February 7, 1967 in Athens, Pennsylvania. He predeceased her on November 15, 1996.
Virginia has been a resident of Loon Lake since 1975 coming from Sodus, NY. She had been employed as a telephone operator for New York Telephone Company for many years. Virginia and her husband Jack had owned and operated a general store in Loon Lake for four years. She was well known in her community by many dear friends. She loved to bake and share fresh homemade "goodies" with all who came to visit.
She is survived by two daughters Sandra Osterhout of Webster, NY, and Andrea Hill of Ontario, NY , four Grandchildren , six Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake, NY. Private calling hours and funeral services took place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home for her immediate family on Sunday with Rev. Eric Olsen officiating. A celebration of her life will take place at a later date to be announced. Burial will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Geneva.
