TUPPER LAKE-Richard John Stubley, Saranac Lake, formerly of Tupper Lake, died December 31, 2012 at Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington, VT surrounded by several loving family members. Born in Seneca Falls, NY on July 29, 1929, he was the son of Robert H. and Vernice (McClure) Stubley. He graduated from Warsaw High School, Warsaw, NY in 1946 where he had participated in many sports and activities. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served from September 2, 1948 to August 17, 1952 including service with the First Marines, First Marine Division in Korea during part of 1951 until August of 1952. He attained the rank of Staff Sgt. On January 6, 1951, he married the former Mary Eileen Grover at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Warsaw, NY. She pre-deceased him in August 2006. He graduated from Buffalo State College in 1956 with a B.S. degree in Industrial Arts Education. He taught industrial arts and Driver Education at Tupper Lake High School from 1956 to 1994. He was a member of the VFW Post 3120 in Tupper Lake, past member of Tupper Lake Country Club and former lector and lay minister at St. Alphonsus church in Tupper Lake. He is survived by six children; Marie (Glenn) Heinrich, Hagerstown, IN, John (Deborah) Stubley, West Falls, NY, Karen (David) Carr, Watertown, Sheila (Arthur) Schneck, Saranac Lake, Diane (John) Steves, Liverpool and Bridget (Phil) Blinn, Lake Placid. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 10 great-Grandchildren, one brother Robert (Lorraine) Stubley, Warsaw, NY, one sister Judith (Russell) Allen, Warsaw, NY and several nieces and nephews. Dick loved the game of golf and achieved two Holes in One at the TLCC. Calling hours are scheduled for Thursday, January 3rd from 4 to 7 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral home in Tupper Lake. A Mass of Christian burial will be Celebrated on Friday at 2pm at St. Alphonsus Church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in May.
