Stanley Strack

We are sad to announce the passing of Stanley L. Strack, age 71, on Friday December 1, 2022 at his residence, he finally beat the diseases that tormented his body from Agent Orange.

Stan was born April 2, 1951 to Howard and Hazel (Minnie) Strack of Lake Clear, NY. He said he was ready to go see his family and dear friends sitting next to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, now that he is pain free.

Stan is survived by his children: Liz (Sterling) Mitchell of Potsdam N.Y. Stanley (Lisa) Strack Jr. of Rome Ga. Grandchildren: Trevor Myers of Potsdam, and Caysen Strack of Rome Ga. Six siblings: Mary (Carl) Klaproth of Bloomingdale NY, Charles (Janet) Strack of Port Henry NY, Howard (Marie) Strack Jr. of Park ridge NJ, Steve (Cindy) Strack of Lake Clear NY, and Albert Strack of Pooler Ga. As well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and very dear friends. In addition to his mother and father, Stan was predeceased in 1968 by his brother Robert “Bobby” Strack.

Stan joined the Army in November 1969 and served his country honorably in Vietnam for 20 months from June 8, '70 - February 14, '72.

He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Aircraft Crewman's Medal, Vietnam Service Medal W/2 Stars, Army Commendation Medal W/OLC, Vietnam Campaign Medal W/60 Device, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry W/Palm. His MOS was 67N20 Aircraft Maintenance.

Stan lived in many cities and towns including, Potsdam NY, Pawling NY, Phoenix AZ, El Paso TX, Kempner TX, Lake Clear NY, and lastly Colton NY. Growing up, Stan's passion was working on automobiles with his dad in their garage in Lake Clear Jet. (Stracks Service Station). He carried on this trait for many years in the automotive industry.

He was an avid Richard Petty 43 Nascar fan, he liked to fish, read, play cards, and listen to his country music, mostly Willie Nelson. He was also constantly on his phone, going nowhere without it. Facebook was one of his favorites. Stan is also survived by many "Brothers" and their families whom he met in the military. He was a member of the VFW in Saranac Lake, American Legion, DAV, Vietnam Veterans of America and the Saranac Lake Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church Street, Saranac Lake, NY 12983. Calling hours are scheduled for Friday December 9, 2022 from 11:00am until 1:00pm with a memorial service at 1:00pm at the Funeral Home with Pastor Ryan Schneider officiating. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Lake Clear, NY with a US Army Honor Guard.
