Grace Stevens, 80, of Tupper Lake, passed away Monday December 5th, 2011 at Adirondack Medical Center surrounded by her family. Born on July 3rd, 1931 to Edward and Naomi (Heffelfinger) Britt. She Grew up in Buffalo, New York where she graduated from Hamburg High School.
Grace moved to Saranac Lake in 1953 where she worked many jobs including a baker, at The Blue Gentian Restaurant in Saranac Lake, New York. She met Roy E Stevens Sr. at Pine Pond, and the two were married on September 4th, 1954 at St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake. Grace loved many activities including, spending time with her family, especially family dinners when everyone could get together, crocheting, spending the long Adirondack winters in Florida, and later doing puzzles with her friends at Mercy Living Center where she resided for the past 3 years.
Grace is survived by her husband of 57 years, Roy E Stevens Sr. of Redford New York, a brother and his wife Daniel and Cathy Carroll of Hamburg New York, four sons and one daughter. Roy and Barbara Stevens of Tupper Lake, Mark Stevens and his long time companion Sandy Hathaway of Bloomingdale, Paul and Dana Stevens of Tupper Lake, Naoma and James Stewart of Vermontville, and Craig and Renna Stevens of Tupper lake. Grace also had twenty two grandchildren, Heather Stevens Moon and fiancé’ Randy Beckwith, Roy Stevens and his girlfriend Jenn Hutchinson, Christine Stevens Ward and husband Charles, Chris Stevens and wife Leslie, Scott Stevens and wife Erica, Jessica Logsdon and husband Donald, Jenna Stevens, Kierstin Stevens, James Stewart and wife Carrie, Thomas Stewart and girlfriend Sam Wright, Natalie Stevens, Brandon Garvey and wife JoElynn, Joshua Stevens and wife Jessica, she also had twenty seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, who all loved her dearly.
Grace was predeceased by her parents Edward and Naomi Britt, a sister Louis Grinsell, and a nephew Daniel Carroll.
Services will be at the convenience of her Family at Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral home in Tupper Lake.
Memorial donations may be made to the Tupper Lake Rescue Squad in care of the funeral home.
