William Stephsenon

August 9, 1925 — February 19, 2012

William Wallace Stephenson, age 86, of 673 County Route 55, Saranac Lake, died Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Fletcher Allen Health Care Center in Burlington VT.

Born in Bloomingdale, New York on August 09, 1925, he was the son of William and Daisy (Brown) Stephenson. He married Patricia Strobel May 2, 1963 at St. Paul's Church in Bloomingdale, NY.

Mr. Stephenson had been employed as a carpenter at the Adirondack Correctional Facility for 10 years until his retirement in September of 1991. Prior to that he had been employed as a carpenter for Branch & Callahan for many years. Mr. Stephenson is a past member of the Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Department. He also played baseball for many years for the Bloomingdale Fireman. Mr. Stephenson is a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II and had received the Asiatic Pacific Medal, American Theater Medal and Victory Medal.

He is survived by his wife Patricia, three sons Michael and his wife Yvonne of Hornell, NY, William of Bloomingdale, NY, Robert and his wife Katie of Bloomingdale, NY, one sister Harriet Limpert of Piseco Lake, NY, two brothers Roger Stephenson of Bloomingdale, NY, and James Stephenson of Lake Placid, 6 Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, one sister Betty Rork, and two brothers Robert and Albert Stephenson.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 3:00 PM - 6:30 PM. A fireman’s prayer service will take place at 6:30 PM Thursday evening immediately followed by a funeral service. Burial will take place at Brookside Cemetery in Bloomingdale in the spring.
