Patricia K. Sprenger, age 60, of 57 Algonquin Ave., Saranac Lake, died Tuesday, October 23, 2012.
Born in Utica, New York on December 12, 1951, she was the daughter of George and Bess (MacDonald) Folsom. Patricia married James Sprenger on June 22,
1974 in Old Forge, NY.
Patricia has been a resident of Saranac Lake since 1995 coming from Gloversville, NY and had been employed as a bookkeeper at various area businesses including Sturdy Supply and American Management Association. Prior to that she had worked for Edward-Williams Accounting in Glens Falls.
Patricia's true passion in life was music. After graduating from high school in Old Forge, NY in 1970 she attended Ithaca College School of Music graduating in 1974. An accomplished musician playing the piano, organ, classical guitar and oboe she played in several orchestras including the Glens Falls Operetta Club, Glens Falls Sinfonietta , various woodwind quintets and ensembles, the Adirondack Winds concert band, Southampton Symphony and Riverhead community band. Patricia was also an organist and choir director for over 40 years at various churches including the Saranac Lake First Presbyterian Church, Saranac Lake First United Methodist Church, Gloversville Presbyterian Church, Sanfords Ridge United Methodist Church, North Bush United Methodist Church, Livingston United Methodist Church in N.J., Glens Falls Baptist Church and Jamesport United Church of Christ. Patricia was a member of the women’s music fraternity Sigma Alpha Iota, Epsilon Chapter at Ithaca College. Later in life her passion for music was only exceeded by her passion for her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband the Rev. James R. Sprenger of Saranac Lake, one son Edward and his wife Kathleen of Rotterdam, NY, one daughter Karen Reilly and her husband James of Kenosha, WI, three sisters Barb Kipp of Dover, NH, Nancy VanDox of Tamuning, Guam, Linda Folsom of Thendara, NY, five grandchildren Ethan, Nathan, Emma, Andrew and Thomas and 8 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and mother.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A memorial service will take place at 3:00 PM on Sunday October 28, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church in Saranac Lake, with Rev. Joanne White officiating.
