TUPPER LAKE- Beldon Wayne Soucy,65, of Tupper Lake died Monday, February 15, 2010 at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid. Born on June 3, 1944 in Tupper Lake, he was the son of Beldon A. and Thrya (Brickey) Soucy. Wayne graduated from Tupper High class of 1962. He enjoyed playing sports as young man, then watching as he got older. He particularly loved the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 1965 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, over his twenty year career, he served two tours in Vietnam, tours in England, Thailand and Africa. He also participated in the development of the Stealth fighter. Wayne retired Master Sergeant in 1985. He returned to Tupper Lake in 1986 and reunited with his High School Friend Judith Simpson, they were married on August 16, 1989. Wayne was employed at the Tupper Lake Country club for twenty years. Though he thought he was done traveling when he retired from the Air Force, he found traveling with his wife in the U.S. to be quite fun. They had many great times in Florida, especially the Keys, Arizona and California. He enjoyed visiting with his VFW buddies and getting a good argument going. He was a Life member of the V.F.W. serving as Past Commander as well as Jr. and Sr. Vice Commander. He was also a past member of the Tupper Lake Country Club. Wayne was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed playing on the floor with his granddaughters and hearing them laugh. He is survived by his mother Thyra of Tupper Lake, wife Judith, son James Watson and Patricia Shannon of Jacksonville, FL., daughter, Lisa Young and her husband George of Fairport, son Stacy Soucy and Tracey Luton of Tupper Lake, daughter Kim Potter and Tom Shea of Jacksonville, FL., 12 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, two brothers, Kelly Soucy of Sterling, VA, Joel Soucy and his wife Roxanne of Tupper Lake and many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his father in 1980. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 18 from 2 to 4 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 4pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus cemetery in May with full military honors. Friends wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Tupper Lake Rescue Squad or the V.F.W. post 3120.
