Lenore Irene Sorensen, “Leni”, 68, of Saranac Lake, NY died Sunday January 28, 2018 in Lake Placid surrounded by her family.
Leni was born in Saranac Lake on November 3, 1949, the daughter of Joseph and Ruth (Harris) DeNicolo. She married Carl Sorensen Jr. in Saranac Lake on July 1, 1972.
Leni was a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake, and worked as an LPN for Uihlein Mercy Center before entering private nursing. Leni cared for many people in the Adirondacks and considered her patients and their families some of the best people around. She enjoyed cooking, vacationing on Ormond Beach, trips to the casino, but most of all, spending time with her family.
Leni is survived by her husband of 47 years Carl, her two sons Carl (Sundy) Sorensen of Tupper Lake, Kyle Sorensen of Saranac Lake, her daughter Alison (Brandon) McCormick of Lake Placid, and her four cherished grandchildren, Nathan and Rachel Sorensen and Ayden and Eli McCormick. She is also survived by her half-sister Tia DeNicolo, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Leni was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved older brother Richard “Dicky” DeNicolo and her half-brother Joseph “Joey” DeNicolo.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. Funeral services will take place at the convenience of the family.
