TUPPER LAKE
Bernard “Gino” Snyder, 87, of Tupper Lake, NY passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. Gino was born on June 15, 1925, the son of George and Emma (Goodrow) Snyder.
Gino enlisted in the United States Armed Forces on March 18, 1946 as a link trainer instructor with the 49th Fighter Group 5th Air Force at Chitoee Airbase in Japan. He returned home on August 27, 1947.
He worked for the Altamont Milk and Ice Cream Company for twenty nine years. In 1976 he started Tri-Lakes Ice Cream where he worked until his retirement in 1999.
On November 22, 1953, he married the former Yvonne Planty.
Gino is survived by his wife and 5 children, Sue Colby and her husband Jim Colby of Milton VT, Tom and wife Tracey of Tupper Lake, Anne Jay of Tupper Lake, Joe and wife Mary Ellen of Tupper Lake, J.P. and wife Judy of Tupper Lake, 15 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister Lillian Kallasy of Tupper Lake.
He was predeceased by one son, David in 2003.
Calling hours are scheduled from 12:00-2pm on Saturday March 9th followed by a funeral service at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus cemetery in May. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider High Peaks Hospice.
