Word has been received of the death of Iva Skiff Walker, age 60 of 324, County Route 47, Saranac Lake, New York who died peacefully in her sleep with her family by her side on Sunday January 17, 2015 at her home. Iva had struggled with illness for years and was able to leave the nursing home to return home with the care of her family. She was able to spend her time enjoying family and friends. Most of all the children coming by to see her.
She was born October 2, 1955, the daughter of Paul and Veleta Pelky. Iva attended school at St. Bernard’s St. Pius and then Saranac Lake High School. She worked in many motels throughout the years but had to retire due to illness. She loved to go boating and fishing. Iva especially loved spending time with all her family and the kids.
Iva married Bill Skiff on May 14, 1987. He predeceased her in 1997.
She is survived by Bill’s children Shawn Skiff, Darlene Sancimo - her children William and Anthony Nicoletti, Debbie Skiff and Vincent Belkin, Diane Russo - her children Michael Paolucci and Deana Russo, Danny Skiff - his son Daniel Skiff Jr, and Iva's great grandson Felix Skiff.
Iva remarried on September 28, 2002 to Kevin Walker who survives her along with his daughter Shawnie Myatt.
Iva is also survived by her brother Brad (Jackie) Pelky, Sr. of Madison, NY, their children Bradley Pelky Jr, and great nephews Devin and Dustin Pelky and Teddy (Cindy) Pelky and great niece Kayla Pelky and great nephew Kyle Pelky, her brother Paul Pelky Jr. of Saranac Lake, one sister Margaret Ferguson of Saranac Lake, niece Jessica (Kareem) Wilson, great niece Arianna Walton and Jetaya Wilson, great nephew Tyrese Hunt and Malekai Wilson and many many cousins throughout the area and Vt.
She is also survived by her best friend Albert Bruso and her godchildren Bret and Albert, Jr. Bruso and her faithful dog Rambo.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will take place at 4:00 PM on Sunday January 31, 2016 at the Rusty Nail in Saranac Lake.
