Robert Simonson Jr

Robert Arthur Simonson Jr of Saranac Lake, New York and formerly of Medford New York, died at home after a short battle with cancer, he passed away with his wife by his side, on June 12th, 2023.

Robert was born in Queens, New York on May 15th, 1957 to Ellen Breslin Simonson Martucci, and Robert Simonson Sr.

Robert, (Bart), (Bob), grew up in Medford New York playing football, working as a dishwasher, and gas station attendant. After high school he entered the Army National Guard Reserves.

Robert moved to Saranac Lake in 1986 where he became a general contractor, and performed many projects for the Adirondacks, and many friends and family, all while enjoying fishing, hunting, and playing rugby with the mountaineers.

Robert was survived by his wife of 24 years, Janet (Favro) Thompson Simonsons, of Saranac Lake. Two stepchildren, Kira Thompson of Asheville North Carolina, and Eric Thompson of Saranac Lake. His grandchildren, Cody Montagnola of Wilmington New York, and Brayden Thompson of Tupper Lake New York. Two brothers Keith Simonson of Medford NY William Simonson of Sebastion Florida, Three sisters Margaret Gagnon of Medford New York Geraldine Hatch of Medford NY, Erin Danzinger of Medford NY and Lisa and Allison Simonson, from his fathers second marriage to Barbara Simonson. He was also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, step father Sal Martucci, and God-son/nephew James Hatch.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church Street, Saranac Lake, NY 12983. Calling hours are scheduled for Wednesday June 14, 2023 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at the Funeral Home with a memorial service immediately following at 6:00pm also at the funeral home.
