Claude James Shene, age 87, of Lake Clear, NY died Thursday, April 16, 2020 at the CareOne Facility in Holyke, MA

Born in Vermontville, New York on December 23, 1932, he was the son of Hubert and Florence (Aubin) Shene. Claude married Catherine (Beaney) Donaldson on October 27, 1979 in First United Methodist Church in Saranac Lake.

Claude was a lifelong resident of the Saranac Lake area and had worked for the Town of Harrietstown Highway Department until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and vacationing in Nova Scotia.

He is survived by his wife Catherine "Kay" Beaney Donaldson Shene, his son Claude "Tyke" Shene, Jr. of North Branch Callicoon Center, NY, his son James Shene of Georgia, his daughter Rhea Lynn Shene- Davis of Garnerville, NY, his daughter Cindy Shene of Albany, NY, his brother Gary Shene of Bloomingdale, NY, his sister Elliody Bickford of Vermontville, NY, his sister Laurel Giddings of Vermontville, NY, 10 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son Michael David Shene, two daughters Carolyn Dawn Shene and Helen Loretta Shene, and three brothers Almon “Al” Shene, Carl Shene and Malcom Shene, and a sister Bertha Sawyer.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake, NY. Funeral services and burial will take place at the convenience of the family. A celebration of life will take place at a later date after the corona virus restrictions have been lifted. Burial will take place at Union Cemetery in Vermontville.
