Shane Sheffield, age 28, of 509 River Road, Lake Placid, died Sunday, February 05, 2012.

Born in Plattsburgh, New York on April 24, 1983, he was the son of Gary Sheffield, Sr. and April Dixon.

Shane grew up in Lake Placid and recently was staying Saranac Lake. At the time of his death he was an independent Gem Stone Dealer and Graphic Artist traveling across the country to various Gem Stone shows. He loved spending much of his time outdoors, especially snowboarding, hiking, camping, scuba diving, and bird hunting.

He is survived by his mother April Dixon of Lake Placid, one sister Heidi Raihofer Leonardo and her husband Joseph Leonardo, III, one brother Gary Sheffield and his wife Kelly of Monument, CO, his maternal grandmother Carroll Dixon of Bloomingdale, NY, niece and nephew Jack and Brook Sheffield of Monument, CO, two Aunts Robin Muldoon and Dawn Pietais both of Saranac Lake, NY, cousins Cherise Bailey, Mark and Chenelle Palyswiat, Chelley Pietras, James Muldoon and grand niece Coral Palyswiat. He is also survived by many close friends including Bobby and Adriane Stickney. He was preceded in death by his father Gary Sheffield.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Sunday, February 12, 2012 from 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3:30 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Reilly officiating.
