Mischa Schaffer

Mischa Schaffer, age 29, of 4 Middle St, Lake Placid, died Friday, August 07, 2015. He was the son of William Schaffer and Zuzka (Demartini) Schaffer.

Mischa was born in Saranac Lake on June 18, 1986. He was a 2005 graduate of Lake Placid High School. He was the executive chef at Café Rustica in Lake Placid at the time of his death. He had previously worked as a chef at the Interlaken Inn and Brown Dog Deli both in Lake Placid.

He is survived by his father William Schaffer of Lake Placid, mother Zuzka Schaffer of Wilmington, one brother Kiya Schaffer and one sister Sasha Schaffer both of Lake Placid.

On Friday August 7th, Mischa Schaffer our son, brother, and merry prankster left us for his next adventure. Mischa found sport and exhilaration in whatever he did, whether snowboarding, drumming, pimping his ride, or just enjoying life and his friends. Although young in years, Mischa has left a palpable memory of friendship, enthusiasm, and loyalty for all who knew and loved him. We love you forever, Misch.

Funeral arrangements are through Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no visitation or services at the funeral home.

A celebration of Mischa’s life is planned for Sunday, August 16, 2015 at the Lake Placid Horse Show grounds from 1 to 5 pm. Please join us to share a thought or story to honor Mischa or bring your musical instrument and jam with others.
