Elizabeth Amelia Sauvie “Betty” passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 19, 2021, at age 78.

She was born on November 7, 1942, in Malone, NY. The daughter of George and Beatrice Wheeler (Deceased). Married to Floyd Sauvie “Sonny” on November 22, 1958. He predeceased her on June 16, 1991. Betty was also predeceased by her daughter Joy Sauvie and nephew John Lamora.

Betty enjoyed playing cards, sweet treats, and going to the casino. She loved spending time with family and chatting on the phone.

Betty was survived by two daughters, Joy (Richard) Gonyea and Brenda Sauvie. One sister, Julie (Michelle) Lamora. Four grandchildren Kenneth (Melissa) Martell, Bethany (Joshua) Hogan, Brandon Gonyea, Danielle Gonyea and Danielle’s fiancé Bradley Shumway. Two great-grandchildren, Makayla, and Noah Hogan. As well as many nieces, nephews and cousins including Earl Jones.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake on Friday September 24, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 Am on Saturday September 25, 2021 at St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake with Rev. Patrick Ratigan Officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Family and friends attending calling hours and funeral services are asked to please follow all Covid-19 recommendations including wearing masks and social distancing.

Friends wishing to remember Elizabeth are asked to make memorial contributions to High Peaks Hospice in care of the funeral home. Family and friends can also share their condolences at fortunekeoughfuenralhome.com.
