Dennis Lyle Salls, age 80, of Bloomingdale, NY passed away in his home on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, with family at his side.
Dennis was born in Saranac Lake, NY on March 23, 1943 the son of Harold and Melvina (Bordeau) Salls.
Dennis grew up in Saranac Lake, where he taught himself at a young age, to diagnose and fix automobiles. He became the best auto mechanic around, with a career spanning 42 years and was much appreciated by all of his loyal customers, as well as his family. He was the strongest, hardest working, most generous man, always willing to help people out and always quick with a smile or a joke. In his free time, he enjoyed watching his two sons play baseball, working in the woodpile with his three children, splitting and delivering many loads of firewood. He was also an avid motorsports enthusiast, including snowmobiling, riding his motorcycle, and 3-wheeler. He enjoyed attending his Grandkids’ sporting events, working in the woods, snowshoeing, watching the many different species of birds that visited the feeders, reading, and watching NASCAR.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 59 years, Donna (Hosler) Salls, his two sons: William (Carolyn) Salls of Saranac Lake, NY and Michael Salls of Fort Pierce, FL; his one daughter: Jennifer Latham of Lake Clear, NY. Three brothers: Theodore Salls of Lake Clear, NY, Jerry (MaryEllen) Salls of Gabriels, NY and Steven Salls of Saranac Lake, NY. One sister: Mary Gladd of Saranac Lake, NY. Dennis is also survived by three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many Nieces and Nephews.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church Street, Saranac Lake, NY 12983. At Denny’s request, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service is scheduled for Thursday June 15, 2023 at 11:00am at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Bloomingdale, NY with the Reverend Martin Cline officiating.
