Elizabeth "Betsy" Sageman, age 62, of McKenzie Pond Road, Saranac Lake, died Friday, November 11, 2016.

Born in Saranac Lake, New York on February 06, 1954, she was the daughter of Dr. Bradley and Rita (Fleury) Sageman.

Betsy attended and graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1972. She later attended and received her Master’s Degree in Education from SUNY Plattsburgh. Betsy had been employed for Franklin-Essex -Hamilton BOCES for over 15 years until her retirement in 2015; prior to that she had taught for the Saranac Lake Central School District. Betsy loved spending time with her family and engaging in outdoor activities such as gardening, skiing, boating, golfing, tennis and hiking.

She is survived by two daughters; Jacquelyn Dubee of Saranac Lake, and Elizabeth McGinnis of St Albans, VT. She is also survived by Elizabeth’s husband, Mark McGinnis, and two grandchildren Eli and Gwendolyn McGinnis. Her mother Rita F. Madden of Saranac Lake, one brother Barry Sageman of Ft. Myers, FL, two sisters Margaret Purga of Merritt Island, FL Pamela and Guy Little, of Ormond Beach, FL, two step-brothers William Madden, III and Michael Madden both of Saranac Lake, one step-sister Mary Catherine Madden-Heisler of New Jersey and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Dr. C. Bradley Sageman, step-father William F. Madden, Jr. and one brother C. Bradley Sagemen, Jr.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday November 18, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake with Rev. Patrick Ratigan officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery.
