It is with a very heavy heart, we share with you that our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Ruth E. Snickles, age 80, of Bloomingdale, died Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Johnson City, New York, on October 3, 1943, she was the daughter of the Rev. Donald J. and Nellie (Fay) Hardy.
Ruth’s family moved to Lake Placid New York when her father was assigned as the pastor of Pilgrim Holiness Church in Lake Placid. She grew up in Lake Placid where she graduated from Lake Placid High School in 1962. Ruth married Gary S. Snickles on April 14th, 1962 in Lake Placid, NY and were wed in holy matrimoni by her father Rev. Hardy. On April 14th, they celebrated 62 wonderful years of marriage. She married the Love of her Life, " how she looked at him when he came in the room" filled the whole room with Love.
Ruth worked as a manager for the American Management Association in Saranac Lake for 37 years until her retirement. Following her retirement there, she worked in the family business, Snickles Plumbing and Heating Inc. in Bloomingdale for ten years. Ruth cherished cooking for family Sunday dinners, where Pop would often fire up the barbecue. She loved spending time with her family, creating lasting memories together. Ruth had a passion for crocheting and decorating for the holidays, and her love for the New York Yankees was evident in her license plate, which read "Baby Ruth." She adored her cats and had a special fondness for ceramic frogs and beautiful paintings. Ruth took great joy in creating a lovely home and loved hosting her grandkids by the pool, where they shared countless happy moments. "Meema and Pop" loved spending time outdoors, tending to their lawn and garden. They also treasured their visits to Bar Harbor, Maine. We will miss her terribly....
Ruth is survived by her husband Gary of Bloomingdale, two daughters Julie (William) Hickok of Bloomingdale and Rebecca Snickles of Bloomingdale, three grandchildren Lindsey (Ryan) Murray, Andrea (Adam Mayville) Boon and Gary (Hannah Brogan) Hickok and two great grandchildren Makayla and Carson Murray.
