Gladys Ruben

Gladys M. Ruben, age 93, formerly Northwest Bay Rd., Saranac Lake, died Thursday, May 20, 2010 at AMC-Uihlein Mercy Center Nursing home in Lake Placid where she had been a resident since 2005.

Born in New York City, New York on January 23, 1917, she was the daughter of Sigmund and Katherine (Baum) Hesselbach. She married Arthur P Ruben who predeceased her in 1972.

Gladys enjoyed sharing sunny days by her pool with friends and family. She loved teaching her granddaughter all about flowers, the very first flowers being forget-me-nots. Gladys also had a love of art and often worked with watercolors. She spent many days in her later years at the Saranac Lake Adult Center, where they took great care of her always going above and beyond.

She is survived by one son A. William Ruben of Saranac Lake and one granddaughter Diana M. Ruben-Howard of Saranac Lake. She was preceded in death by her father and mother.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. There will be no calling hours. Friends are invited to join her family in sharing memories at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday May 25, at Brookside Cemetery in Bloomingdale.
