TUPPER LAKE- Roger "Frenchie" Roy, 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Mercy Living Center with his family by his side. He was the brother to 4 siblings, father to 10, grandfather to 13 and great-grandfather to 3 and friend to all who knew him. Roger came into this world on February 19, 1939. He was the first boy of five children born to Francois and Delvina (Letourneau) Roy of Canada. Roger came to the United States after graduation at the age of 15. In 1954, Roger worked for International Paper Co. and continued to do so until 1967. It was at this time Roger began his career as an antique dealer and is best known as "Frenchie" the Canadian born auctioneer. Frenchie could be found peddling his wares at local Flea Markets from Maine to Florida. But it was the singing chant of tongues that mesmerized his crowd and echoed through the Adirondack Mountains. Most notably one might recall hearing the singing chants in the 70's at O.K. Auction Gallery located n Gabriels, NY or during the 80's and 90's at The Old Seed Store in Upper Jay, NY. Roger is pre-deceased by; a son Rollande in 1969, his mother Delvina Rose Letourneau-Roy in 1985 and his father Francois Roy in 2002. Roger is survived by a sister, Rollande and 3 brothers; Yvon, Denis and Gaston all of Canada, 9 children and their families.
