TUPPER LAKE- Anthony "Tony" Rovito, 87, of Tupper Lake died Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, VT. Born May 11, 1925 in St. Regis Falls, he was the son of Frank and Theresa (Giordana) Rovito. Mr. Rovito attended school in St. Regis Falls and Saranac Lake. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1943 and was honorably discharged as a Machinist Mate Third Class in 1946. On November 20, 1948, he married Greta Bedore at Holy Name Church by Fr. Denis Finnegan. He was employed by W.C. Johnson and Sons, Tupper Lake Supply and the Adirondack Museum where he was the supervisor of the buildings and grounds until his retirement in 1995. Survivors include his wife Greta of 63 years, one daughter Constance Robillard and her husband Mitchell of Tupper Lake, one son Kevin and his wife Eileen of Mayfield, NY. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Christie L. (Robillard) LaVigne and her husband Michael, Mark Robillard and his wife Darcy all of Tupper Lake. Ryan Rovito and his wife Kasey of Marion, NY and Mitchell Rovito of Mayfield, five great-grandchildren, Emma, Luke, Lyla Robillard and Benjamin and Brady LaVigne all of Tupper Lake. Mr. Rovito is also survived by one brother Frank of Florida and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents, two brothers, James and John and two sisters, Edna Cole and Edith Trombley. Mr. Rovito was a communicant of Holy Name church where he was a Eucharistic Minister for several years. He was an avid sports fan who especially liked the New York Yankees, the New York Giants and the Tupper Lake Lumberjacks. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 17th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough funeral home in Tupper Lake. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 18th at 11 a.m. at Holy Name Church with Rev. Douglas Decker officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery with full military honors. Those wishing to make memorial donations are asked to consider the Tupper Lake Rescue Squad or the Tupper Lake Football Boosters.
