TUPPER LAKE- Robert T. Rossing, 88, of Tupper Lake, died Sunday, February 7, 2010 at his home on Underwood Road. Born on November 22, 1921 in Hartford, CT, he was the son of Albert and Beatrice (Lamoy) Rossing. Mr. Rossing married the former Marion Maloney on March 15, 1947. She pre-deceased him on June 20, 2008. Mr. Rossing was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army serving 1942 - 1945 in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater of Operations. After being honorably discharged in 1945, he returned to Tupper Lake and was employed as a Millwright for Drapers Corp. After it's closure, he went on to work at Sunmount DDSO until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 847, once serving as Master. He was also a member of the Eastern Star and the American Legion. Mr. Rossing originally lived in Piercefield with his family where he was involved in the volunteer fire department and served as Fire Chief. He participated in the Annual Eastern Star flea market faithfully every year and was always ready to lend a hand. Mr. Rossing was an avid fisherman and hunter. He leaves behind three children; Martha Gentile of Tupper Lake, Thomas Rossing of Georgia, Kenneth Rossing and his wife Juliette of Tupper Lake, 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 9th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake with a Masonic service being held at 8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gale cemetery in May.
