Marilyn A. Rogers, age 79, of 78 Will Rogers Drive, Saranac Lake, passed away Friday, November 22, 2013.

Born in Cambridge, MA (in the shadow of Fenway Park) February 05, 1934, she was the daughter of John J. and Mary E. (Lynch) Hayden. Marilyn married Edward W. Rogers on Feb 14 1953 at Hamilton, Mass and that is when their lifelong journey began. The years of fishing and camping in Maine, Newfoundland, Montana and everywhere in between with Ed and her four children was always highlighted by her sharp wit and wonderful sense of humor. Marilyn loved the family duck camp on the Essex marsh and her 28 and 29 cribbage hands are nailed to the wall there. She loved the Boston Red Sox since she was a child waiting by the players exit with her baseball cards for an autograph, it is fitting that they won the World Series this year.

Her husband Ed predeceased her August 11, 2011.

Marilyn is survived by, Her sister Claire Lynch of Pembroke, Mass, her children Sue Rogers of Proctorsville, Vermont, Edward Rogers Jr. of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Ted Rogers of Missoula, Montana., and Tracy Santagate of Paul Smiths, NY; Grandchildren Cori Santagate of Springfield, VT, Levi Santagate of Fort Benning, GA, Justin Rogers and Jonathan Rogers of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Connor Rogers and Gabriel Rogers both of Missoula, Montana, and great grandchild Braeden Rogers of Virginia Beach, VA; as well as her beloved cat Abbey

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. Marilyn’s family will receive friends at the Saranac Village-Will Rogers Great Room for an afternoon tea on Saturday December 14, 2013 at 3:00 PM. Interment will take place in Town of Hamilton Cemetery, Hamilton, MA on a date to be determined in the spring.
