Donald R. (Donnie) Roberts, 62, passed away unexpectedly at his home on October 26, 2012. Donnie was born in Tupper Lake on February 13, 1950, the son of Ovide and Gertrude (Gale) Roberts. He graduated from Tupper Lake High School in 1969. He participated in the football program through his school years. In 1969 he married the former Maryanne Brooks and together they had two daughters, Tracy Roberts, of Holland Patent, NY, and Rose (Roberts) Atherton, of Bridgeport, NY. He was employed by the logging industry until he had to retire because of a back injury. He was an avid outdoorsman with exceptional hunting and fishing abilities. He was especially proud of his prize winning bucks. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson. He was always willing to help his fellow brothers and his community whenever he was needed.
He is survived by his mother, Gertrude, and his brother Wayne and his wife Janet, all of Tupper Lake, his daughters, Tracy and her fiancé Dan Wadsworth, and Rose and her husband, Adam, also a son Craig and his fiancé Jess, of Tupper Lake. He also is survived by nine grandchildren, Chloe and Calli Becker, Patrick and Jonathan Bixler, Emily and Samantha Atherton, and Emily, Caleb, and Addison Roberts and one nephew, Michael and his wife Ellie of Plattsburgh, NY, and several aunts and uncles and many cousins. He was predeceased by his father Ovide Roberts.
Funeral services were held on October 28, 2012 at Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. His family has asked that any memorial contributions be made in his name to the Tupper Lake Rescue Squad or the Tupper Lake Fire Department.
