Clarice Richer

TUPPER LAKE- Clarice Olga Richer, 88, of 15 Church St., Tupper Lake, died Tuesday February 17, 2009 at her home. Born on April 26, 1920 in Underhill, Vt, she was the daughter of Clifford and Mary (Woodward) Bruso. On September 3, 1950, she married Robert J. Richer at St. Bernard’s church in Saranac Lake. Clarice was a graduate of the Champlain Valley Hospital School of Nursing in 1941. She is a veteran of WWII serving as a 1st Lieutenant overseas with the U.S. Army Nurse Corps in evacuation hospitals stationed in England, France and Belgium. After the war, she was employed at the Ray Brook State Hospital and later Sunmount VA Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, one daughter Barbara Papineau of Keene, two sons Peter Richer and his wife Sue of Tupper Lake, Joseph Richer of West Palm beach, Florida, four grandchildren, Hilary Papineau of Albany, Megan Papineau of Keene, Jason Richer and Angie Merrihew and one great-grandson Mitchell all of Tupper Lake. She is also survived by one sister Bernadette Stiles of Saranac Lake. She was pre-deceased by three brothers, Melburne, Bernard and Charles. Calling hours will be held Thursday, February 19th from 7 to 9 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, February 20 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus church with the Rev. Kris Lauzon officiating.
