Lester "Butch" H. Reome, 73, of Lake Clear, died Friday, June 24, 2016, at his home surrounded by family.
Born in Saranac Lake on June 19, 1943, he was the son of Lester and Mary Alice (Rice) Reome. Lester and Joyce B. Warner were married on July 26, 1969, in Saranac Lake.
Butch was a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake and had been employed as a New York state corrections officers for 25 years until his retirement in 2006. Prior to that he had worked in construction. Butch was a sled dog racer, stock car driver and also a classic car enthusiast. He spent much of his retirement reading many of his favorite books. He is a member of the Saranac Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars and is a veteran of the United States Army, serving during Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Reome of Lake Clear; one son, Jason Reome of Lake Clear; five brothers: Ed Reome of Rochester, Gary and Ann Reome of Brasher Falls, Robert "Bob" and Nancy Reome of Redford, Mike and Penny Moody of Rochester, and Mark and Lisa Moody of Vermont; four sisters: Mona Rivers of Rochester, Pam Fobare of Plattsburgh, Theresa Kenny of Rochester and Jane Reome of Rochester; and many nieces and nephews. Also his good friend Dave and Lisa Voudren.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and two brothers James and John Reome.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. Butch's family will receive friends at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home at 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 29. A memorial service will immediately follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
