John L. Reilly, age 68, of 89 Greenwood Street, Lake Placid, died Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Franklin County Nursing Home in Malone.
Born in Brooklyn, New York on August 10, 1944, he was the son of John and Margaret (Wallace) Reilly.
John was liked by all who knew him. He had an impish, teasing sense of humor, liked to tell entertaining stories from his youth, and was concerned for others. At a time of life when he needed help from others, he still brought happiness to those around him at the Greenwood Apartments, the Uihlein Living Center, and the Adirondack Medical Center. His teasing, chuckles and generosity will be missed by many. His special pleasures were horse racing at Saratoga, diners at restaurants and the New York Giants and Yankees. He moved from Brooklyn to Bloomingdale, where he lived with his uncles until moving to the Greenwood in Lake Placid for the last several years.
He is survived by his many close friends.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00 noon on Monday January 21, 2013 at the AMC-Uihlein Living Center Chapel., with Rev. Patrick O'Reilly officiating. Burial will take place at St. Paul's Cemetery in Bloomingdale in May.
