Joseph Quigley

Joseph Gabriel Quigley, age 87, of 168 Douglas Road, Saranac, died Monday, August 06, 2012 at C.V.P.H Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Born in Saranac Lake, New York on February 26, 1925, he was the son of Lawrence and Marie (Keys) Quigley. Joseph married Dorothy Fielding January 23, 1956 at St. Bernard’s church in Saranac Lake, NY. She predeceased him on January 23, 1979.

Joe worked as a Postal Clerk for 30 years in Saranac Lake until his retirement in 1989. He is a veteran of the United States Army serving as a sergeant during World War II in the E squadron 112th Army Air Force Base Unit. Joe loved golfing and is a member of the Saranac Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and the Saranac Lake Elks Club BPOE 1508.

He is survived by one daughter Michele Bailey and her husband Alan of Saranac, NY, one granddaughter Heather Arnold and one great granddaughter Taylor Jean Arnold both of Syracuse, NY, two sisters Ann Crisham of Lake Placid, NY and Eileen Swain of Saranac Lake, NY, two brothers Thomas Quigley of Staten Island, NY, and James Quigley of Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, his father, mother, six sisters Margaret Rice, Marie Peabody, Kate Wiles, Barb McKillip, Elizabeth Owens and Patricia Dupree, and one brother Lawrence Quigley.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Thursday, August 9, 2012 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. An Elks service, immediately followed by an American Legion service will take place Thursday evening at 6:30 PM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00 PM on Friday August 10, 2012 at St. Bernard's Church. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake. A reception will take place following the burial at the Saranac Lake Veterans Memorial Association at 2:00 PM.
