Raphael Puccini

Raphael J. Puccini, age 85, of 50 Fish Hatchery Road, Saranac Lake, died Monday, March 22, 2010 at Adirondack Medical Center of Saranac Lake.

She was born on March 26, 1924 in Croghan, New York the daughter of Leon and Jessie (Purcell) Louis. She married Carl R. Puccini on June 4, 1947 in St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake.

She received her RN at A. Barton Hepburn School of Nursing in Ogdensburg, NY. She had worked for the Saranac Lake General Hospital, Will Rogers Hospital, and the Rome-Murphy Memorial Hospital in Rome, NY. Mrs. Puccini had served on the Board of Elections in Columbiana-County, OH for several years. She had also been a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers in Ohio and was a religion instructor at St. John's in The Wilderness Church in Lake Clear for several years. Mrs. Puccini was a member of the senior swimming group in Tupper Lake.

She is survived by her husband Carl of Saranac Lake, NY, seven children Johnette Zsedely and her husband Denes of Bridgeport, NY, Peter Puccini of Rochester, NY, Christopher Puccini and his wife Debbie of Steubenville, OH, Michael Puccini of Saranac Lake, NY, Nicholas Puccini and his wife Cheryl of San Francisco, CA, Jeffrey Puccini and his wife Nichole of Boardman, OH, and Joseph Puccini of Saranac Lake, NY; 15 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; one brother Edward Louis of Holland Patent; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters Patricia Mary Shelhamer, Elaine Coccuzoli and Katherine "Kitty" Scott; and two brothers Bernard and Thomas Louis.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Thursday, March 25, 2010 from 2:00 PM -4:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. A bible vigil service will take place at 3:45 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday March 26, 2010 at St. John's in The Wilderness Church, with Rev. Thomas Kornmeyer officiating. Burial will take place at St. John's Cemetery in Lake Clear in May.
