Carl R. Puccini, age 88, of 50 Fish Hatchery Road, Saranac Lake, died Monday, July 09, 2012 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born in Saranac Lake, New York on September 17, 1923, he was the son of Carlo and Rachael (Douglass) Pucciani.
Carl married Raphael Louis on June 4, 1947 in St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake. She predeceased him on March 22, 2010.
Carl had co-owned and operated the Colonial Inn from 1947 to 1950. He worked at the Colonial Inn as a Bar tender and continued to work as a bartender for various area bars and restaurants. He also operated the Lake Clear General Store from 1954 to 1964 and was later employed by the NY State Sanatorium in Ray Brook and worked for New York State DEC in Lake Clear. He later attended and graduated from Aircraft Technology School. Following his graduation, Carl work for various airlines as an Aircraft Mechanic until his retirement. Carl enjoyed woodworking and the great outdoors. Carl is a veteran of the Unites States Marine Corps serving during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He participated in action against the enemy in the Pacific at Roi and Naniur, Kwajalein Atol, and the Marshall Islands.
He is survived by six children, Johnette Zsedely and her husband Denes of Bridgeport, NY, Peter Puccini of Rochester, NY, Christopher Puccini and his wife Debbie of Steubenville, OH, Michael Puccini of Saranac Lake, NY, Jeffrey Puccini and his wife Nichole of Boardman, OH, and Joseph Puccini of Saranac Lake, NY; 15 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter, two sisters and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons Nicholas and Timothy Puccini and one great granddaughter.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Friday, July 13, 2012 from 2:00 PM - 4: 00 PM and 6:00 PM - 8:00 P. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday July 14, 2012 at 11:30 A.M. at St. John's Church in Lake Clear with Rev. Mark Reilly officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery Lake Clear in Lake Clear.
