Obituary Notice

Reba Jean Prellwitz, age 92, formerly of Rainbow Lake, NY and Saranac Village at Will Rogers, died peacefully Saturday, February 07, 2009 at AMC-Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid where she had been a resident since 2005. In her final hours she was surrounded by family and pets and accompanied by beautiful violin music played by her great-niece.

Born in Rainbow Lake, New York on April 29, 1916, she was the daughter of James and Flora (Bryant) Prellwitz.

Ms. Prellwitz grew up in Rainbow Lake and graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1934. She lived in Jersey City and then Madison, NJ for over 50 years and worked as an executive secretary for Western Electric and AT&T for 35 years in New York City. For many years she tutored inner city children through her church, Calvary Presbyterian in Florham Park, NJ. Her greatest loves were to feed the wild birds and tend her beautiful rose garden. She truly enjoyed the company of therapy dogs that visited her at AMC-Uihlein Mercy Center and loved watching Animal Planet.

She is survived by her nephew Noel Prellwitz and Susan Leubert of Rainbow Lake, NY, and her great-niece Kama Prellwitz, also of Rainbow Lake, NY. She was preceded in death by her brother Herman C. Prellwitz.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in Mountain View Cemetery in Gabriels.
