Ernest R. Place, age 81, of 39 Pine Grove Lane, Vermontville, NY, Franklin, died Friday, June 25, 2010 at his home in Vermontville.
Born in Syracuse, New York on July 17, 1928, he was the son of Donald and Jessie (Cornwell) Place. He married Janet E. Farrar on June 19, 1978 in Carson City Nevada.
Mr. Place had been a resident of Vermonville since 1985 an was the proud owner of the Pine Grove Inn in Loon Lake for 10 years until its closure in 1995. Prior to coming to Vermontville he had made his residence in California where he had been employed as a Mechanic for Toyota. He is a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II and Korea.
He is survived by his wife Janet of Vermontville, one daughter DeEllen “De” Wood, two grandsons Logan and Austin Wood all of Vermontville, NY. He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
